A LITTLE HELP ALONG THE WAY
Ready for the road.
Setup and troubleshooting for FirstLogbook’s Android internal test.
Complete setup, change settings and review your trip only while parked. The app is in internal testing; public production access is not available yet.
The complete user guide
Follow the FirstLogbook user guide for every setup and recording feature, illustrated with sample screenshots and a clean capture from the current Android app. It covers the five tabs, vehicle units, trip review, dashboard calibration, exports, subscriptions and both backup methods.
Install as an invited tester
- Sign in to Google Play with the account approved for the internal test.
- Open the testing link, accept participation and follow the Google Play installation link.
- If you cannot access the test, check the account used for your existing invitation. Access is limited to approved testers.
Set up your vehicle
Add your vehicle details and choose kilometres or miles. Pair your car in Android’s Bluetooth settings first, then select that paired device in FirstLogbook. Automatic recording has separate setup and consent for each vehicle. Manual recording remains available.
Enable automatic recording
Complete the app’s automatic-recording setup while parked. Review precise location access, Android’s “Allow all the time” location setting, companion-device approval and notification access. A selected vehicle’s Bluetooth connection can start a trip after setup; Android and manufacturer restrictions can prevent or delay starts. Force-stopping the app can prevent triggers until it is reopened.
A short Bluetooth disconnection has a 60-second reconnection grace period. Reconnecting during that window keeps the recording together. A longer disconnection ends it; a later connection can start a new trip.
If a trip is missing or incomplete
- Check the recording status and any visible failure or interruption notice.
- Check location permissions, Bluetooth setup and that the intended vehicle is selected.
- Review filtered recordings in Settings: short or stationary recordings can be hidden from the default trip list.
- Check for location gaps. A missing measurement is not a measured zero, and GPS distance may undercount the route.
- Keep the dashboard odometer separate from GPS estimates. Compare independently recorded readings when reviewing distance.
Classify and review a journey
Choose Business or Private, and add a specific business purpose and notes where useful. Completed trip classification corrections do not change recorded boundaries or measurements. Review interrupted and unclassified records before relying on an export.
Save a copy of your records
Use the app’s CSV export for journey records. Diagnostic JSON is a separate export and contains precise route points and technical events. Optional Google Drive backup requires your chosen Google account and explicit backup setup. Connecting alone does not upload a copy. Manual encrypted file backup is another option; its password cannot be recovered.
Subscriptions and purchases
Current local prices and available subscription plans are displayed inside the app using Google Play. Use the app’s purchase restoration controls with the Google Play account that owns the subscription. Google Drive authorization is separate from subscription restoration. Clearing app data or uninstalling does not cancel a Google Play subscription.
Share feedback during the internal test
For privacy questions and data-deletion requests, email support@firstlogbook.com. For other test feedback, you can also use the contact route supplied with your invitation. Describe the Android version, app version, vehicle connection, permission settings and what you observed. Export diagnostics only when needed and review them before sharing: they may contain precise trip locations and notes.
